ABC - GreyMan on Australian Story

In April 2009, an ABC-TV Australian Story film crew travelled to Northern Thailand to film some of The Grey Man (TGM) key people and partners at work. Next week you will have a glimpse into TGM life, meet the main players and learn how rescues are swiftly and daringly executed.

See where The Grey Man works, how intelligence is gathered and used. Share some of the success stories and meet Peng (not her real name), the girl who innocently almost fell prey to the illicit sex trade.

I’m watching this story as I type and am loving it. John is incredibly inspirational in terms of how individuals can make such a huge difference in this despicable trade. John, I applaud you and Grey Man.

  5. Sean Says:

Great work. Will be in contact with some possible support for your work.

We have been advised the Police are heavily involved in the trade however.

I suggest you stay as “Greyman” as you guys can your work is too important!

ALL those able should help you. Every kid saved is valuable!

  6. Susan Says:

I have a friend who has a the same goals as the Greyman. Inspirational people achieve the tasks that most people shy away from.
Last nights Australian Story has affected me deeply. Keep up the good work and I will spread the word to help get donations to keep this vital organisation alive.
To quote singer/songwriter Paul Kelly. “From little things big things grow.”
May you continue to grow and flourish. We need more people like John Curtis in this world.

  7. Megan Butel Says:

Hi - my church is doing much to raise awareness about the problem of global trafficking. It is very much being driven by the women’s ministry - out of the heart for the common sisterhood of women and also the compassion for vulnerable children which is a mother’s heartbeat.
I was so encouraged to see that you, as men, are doing what men can do - addressing the issues of prostitution, child pornography and paedophilia etc. the demand for which is driven mostly by men.
This is an area where women cannot access covertly to gather intelligence or to “kick down the door”. Men are not necessarily going to be receptive to women’s voices criticising prostitution or pornography.
How wonderful that men and women can work together to bring this vile situation to an end - with the men affecting the rescue work and women affecting the work of restoration and rehabilitation and all of us working at prevention through education, community projects and so on. I applaud the work you are doing and encourage you to continue. I have posted about this issue today on my blog and have asked others to link to it to raise further awareness. Thank you for the important work you do.

Fantastic story on Australian Story. Like many, I’m sure, I was surprised and very impressed to learn of your work.

As an Army Reservist of 27 years it also made me proud to learn there were ex-military members in your ranks.

I’ve emailed your organisation as well.

    Well done.
